The Birth of Bourbon, a Photographic Tour of Early Distilleries
This beautiful book of Carol Peachee's photography preserves the vanishing part of bourbon heritage and history in vivid detail. There were over 200 commercial distilleries in Kentucky before Prohibition, but only
61 re-opened after the ban on alcohol was repealed in 1933. Many historic distilleries are being renovated, refurbished and brought back into operation. Unfortunately these spaces, with their antique tools and aging architecture are being dismantled to make way for modern structures and machinery. This book documents these historic sites before they are lost.
